How HYNTYT works
Three ways to work together, all drawing on one thing: senior product leadership for teams dealing with Canadian privacy law and AI. Start small with a fixed project, or hand over the product function outright. You pick the depth.
What it means
What a fractional head of product actually does
In Canada, "fractional" usually brings a vCISO to mind, so the product version needs a line of explanation. A fractional head of product owns the product function part-time: strategy, roadmap, discovery, prioritisation, and the regulatory-aware calls that privacy and AI force. This is not staff augmentation and not sideline coaching. It is the person accountable for product, on a set number of days a month rather than full-time.
The three offers
Pick the depth that fits
Privacy Product Foundations Sprint
- Who it is for
- A SaaS standing up a product practice, or getting ready for Series B diligence where privacy and AI posture will get a hard look.
- Scope
- Discovery, a roadmap frame, an OKR baseline, a regulatory posture review, and a product-operations baseline, delivered over twelve weeks.
- Format
- 12 weeks, fixed scope, milestone billing
- Outcome
- A documented product and privacy posture you can defend to your board, your customers, and your investors.
Book a fit call if you want a defensible foundation on a fixed timeline instead of an open-ended retainer.
Privacy Product Advisor
- Who it is for
- A Series B to C product team under Quebec Law 25 or federal reform pressure, or shipping AI features that touch sensitive data.
- Scope
- A monthly strategy session, async review of PRDs and key documents, regulatory translation for product, and board prep on privacy and AI questions.
- Format
- 4 to 5 days per month, six-month minimum retainer
- Outcome
- Faster, safer product decisions, and no more being blindsided by regulatory exposure.
Book a fit call if your team can execute and you want senior judgement on a specific privacy or AI call.
Fractional Head of Product (Privacy and AI)
- Who it is for
- A founder-CEO or VP Engineering at a Series A to B Canadian SaaS with no senior product leader on staff.
- Scope
- Ownership of product strategy, the roadmap, the discovery cadence, prioritisation, the board-deck product narrative, and regulatory-aware feature design, plus coaching your first product hires.
- Format
- 8 to 10 days per month, six-month minimum retainer, quarterly review
- Outcome
- A roadmap the board can defend, a discovery cadence the team can keep up, and a privacy posture that will not catch you out at the wrong moment.
Book a fit call if you need someone to own product, not advise it from the outside.
The ladder
How engagements progress
Most teams start with a Sprint. It is a low-risk way to see how the practice works on a contained problem with a fixed end date. When the work should carry on, the Advisor retainer keeps it going month to month, and the Fractional Head of Product role takes ownership once product needs a permanent, part-time owner. You take each step only when it makes sense.
Fit
Who this is for
Who HYNTYT works with
- Mid-market Canadian SaaS, roughly Series A through pre-IPO.
- Privacy law or AI features are actively shaping the roadmap.
- No senior product leader with privacy depth on staff, or one who wants a second opinion.
Who HYNTYT is not for
- Pre-product-market-fit, or not yet ready for senior advisory.
- Looking for staff augmentation, a junior PM, or hourly task work.
- Looking for a law firm or a certification body, not product leadership.
Process
How engagements work
- Fit call. A 30-minute conversation to see if the problem and the practice line up.
- Scoping conversation. We pin down the outcome and the shape of the work.
- Written proposal. Scope, deliverables, cadence, and price, in writing.
- Contract. A short agreement covering confidentiality, IP, and terms.
- Start. The engagement begins on an agreed date.
Pricing is set once the scope is clear, talked through on the fit call, and quoted in writing before anything starts.
AI governance
Built for audit-readiness, not a certificate
HYNTYT treats AI governance as audit-readiness. The goal is getting an AI management system to the point a certifying body such as PwC Canada can audit it against ISO 42001, with the NIST AI RMF as a practical scaffold along the way. That means governance design, a risk register, control documentation, and a model-lifecycle policy, built so the eventual certification confirms what is already true rather than kicking off a scramble. HYNTYT does the upstream product and governance work; the certifying body runs the audit.
